I’m Stephy — a documentary family photographer in Hertfordshire, based near Bishops Stortford on the Hertfordshire/Essex border. My sessions are relaxed, playful and real. No stiff poses, no “say cheese” — just the authentic, unscripted moments that show who you are together. Pets are absolutely welcome (I’m a Registered Vet Nurse, so I’m totally at ease with animals), and I’ll happily tag along for a woodland wander or cosy afternoon at home.
Be Wild and Free – Outdoor Family Photography
Think muddy boots, giggles and golden-hour light. We’ll explore your favourite local spot —
fields, forest, park or towpath — and I’ll quietly document the cuddles, chases and in-
between magic that happens when you forget the camera’s there.
Home Comforts – At-Home Family Sessions
If home is your happy place, this is for you. I’ll capture slow mornings, pancake flips, story
corners and sofa snuggles — all the tiny routines that mean everything later. Perfect for
babies and camera-shy kiddos.
What to expect
● Relaxed, child-led sessions (we keep it fun and flexible).
● Zero awkward posing — gentle guidance only when it helps.
● Pet-friendly from the get-go (dogs, cats… even turtles have had cameos!).
● Beautiful, natural images that feel like you.
Where I shoot
I cover Hertfordshire and nearby Essex: Bishops Stortford, Hertford, Ware, Buntingford
(SG9), Saffron Walden, and beyond. Travel within 15 miles of SG9 is included.
How long is a family session?
A.It depend on which package you choose but outdoor sessions anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, though if you think you may need longer I can create a bespoke package for you. Home sessions tend to be from 90 mins onwards.
What should we wear for natural, relaxed photos?
A.Neutral, comfortable layers you can move in. Think texture (knits, denim, linen) and avoid big logos. I’ll send a quick prep guide.
Can we bring the dog?
A.Please do! As a Registered Vet Nurse, I’m experienced and happy to work with pets.
What if the weather turns?
A.Cloud is great; light rain can be fun. If it’s truly grim, we reschedule at no charge or move the session indoors for a Home Comforts vibe.
Do you pose us at all?
A.I may tell you roughly wear to stand/sit depending on backdrops and to take advantage of the best light, but I don't pose you. Depending on the situation I may offer prompts or interactive with you myself to help elicit natural reactions, but this is all.
Where do you recommend shooting?
A.Local woods, meadows, canals and parks around Hertfordshire/Bishops Stortford. I can suggest locations that suit your family.
How many photos will we receive?
A.Enough to tell the full story of your time together — typically you will have a generous gallery from which to choose your photos. The number of images you choose depends on your package but they will be fully edited and with a printing and sharing license.
Can grandparents join?
A.Yes! Extended family sessions are lovely — just mention it when you book.
