There’s something truly magical about golden hour—the soft, warm light that creates the perfect backdrop for natural and heartfelt family moments. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family session near Bishops Stortford.

A Relaxed and Natural Approach

Before our session, the parents shared that they often don't feel comfortable in front of the camera. This is something I hear a lot, and I always reassure families that there’s no need to worry—my sessions are all about natural, unposed moments. Instead of stiff posing, I simply encouraged them to enjoy a relaxed walk, interact with their little one, and let the moments unfold naturally.

Why Golden Hour?

We were incredibly lucky with the light that evening—golden hour provided the most dreamy, glowing backdrop. If you’re considering a family photography session in or around Bishops Stortford, Saffron Walden or the surrounding Hertfordshire, Essex and Cambridgeshire countryside, I always recommend starting 2 hours before sunset if possible. This beautiful light adds warmth and depth to your images, making them even more special.
